School Board Members

The Arcola School District Board of Education is a seven person Board that provides governance for the Arcola School District.  They are the critical link between the community and school district.  The table below outlines the current members, contact information, recent certification and committee memberships. 

The spring Consolidated Election will be held on April 1, 2025.  Members of the public can now circulate petitions for the position of school board member for that election.  School Board Candidates must meet the requirements listed below.  In addition, all candidates must complete the following and submit to the Douglas County Clerk office:

1.      A Statement of Candidacy

2.      Receive at least 50 signatures on a Petition for Nomination from Registered Voters

3.      File a Statement of Economic Interest with the Douglas County Clerk

The filing period for the election will be from Monday, November 12, 2024 through November 18, 2024 at the Douglas County Clerk’s office located at 401 S Center Street, Rm 203, Tuscola, Il 61953.

At a minimum, a candidate must meet the following qualifications:

·         Be a United States citizen

·         Be at least 18 years of age

·         Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment

·         Be a registered voter

·         Not be a child sex offender

·         Not hold another incompatible public office

·         Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District

·         Not hold certain types of prohibited State or federal employment

In addition to the above qualifications, Arcola School District currently elects school board members by congressional townships. Currently, no more than 3 board members can come from any one congressional township.
