The following is a quick update to the Arcola School Community on the transition to Remote Instructional Days:

Calendar - The following will be the calendar for the next couple of weeks:
Tuesday, March 31 and Wednesday, April 1 - these two days will be Remote Instructional Planning Days.
Teachers and staff will be:
- Preparing how they plan to connect with students, provide instruction and learning activities, communicate with students and families and provide feedback on student work. The connections and assignments will be done on a daily basis.
- Sharing information to families and students about how this communication will occur.
Students and families need to be sure they are:
- Communicating with the school when requested
- Reading all information provided to them by the school, including teachers
- Working together to be sure the students can access the online platform that will be used by each teacher (that platform and instructions will be communicated by building/teacher).
- Working together to be sure the school-provided device is set up and ready for Thursday.
Thursday, April 2 - this will be our first Remote Instructional Day
April 3, 6 and 7 - These days will also be Remote Instructional Days
Wednesday, April 8 - Return to regular school. Remember, this is subject to change by the Governor Pritzker

Remote Instruction - we are in the process of finalizing the district's Remote Instructional Plan. Once the plan is complete, it will be posted and sent to everyone in the school community. The administrators are developing specific details and information for students, teachers and families.
Here are a few key highlights (remember, specifics will be shared soon):
1. Teachers will be sending daily communication, instruction and learning activities to students. This will be provided in a variety of ways depending on the grade level: email, seesaw, classroom dojo, google classroom, etc.
2. Students will be required to check in daily for attendance.
3. Students will be required to check on and complete daily assignments provided by the teacher.
4. Teachers will be available for communication with students from 9 am to 12 pm and then 1 to 3 pm daily. Teachers will also be providing feedback to students on assignments and also providing grades.

Family Support – we understand that this is a challenging time for our staff and our families. As a result, we are trying to create a system that will be clear, simple and allow for flexibility. Here are just a few more important pieces of information:
1. The school will be providing “hot spots” for families of students in Grades K-12 that do NOT have connectivity at home. The school will be making contact with the families we know do NOT have connectivity. If you do not hear from the school by Wednesday, April 1 at 3:00 pm and you feel that your student will need a hot spot in order to connect, email Jill Hohlbauch at jhohlbauch@arcolaschools.com.
2. You can access any staff member by email or by calling the respective office (217-268-4963) and leaving a voice mail. A staff directory of email is provided on the district website. Choose the building SITE, then click MENU then DIRECTORY.

3. Just like the regular school year, families are in charge of monitoring appropriate use of technology at home when students are using the school device. The district's network as school is completely filtered. The school devices also some basic filtering on them but parents/guardians must monitor appropriate use of the device and school provided hot spot connectivity.
