Dear Arcola School District Families,
I first want to thank all of our students and families for the amazing partnership during Remote Learning. While it has certainly not been an ideal situation, we have been able to keep most of our students engaged in some aspect of learning during the fourth quarter. We know that this has put additional strain on our parents/guardians and we cannot tell you enough how much the school staff appreciate all of your effort and cooperation.
Remaining School Calendar
Remote learning will occur each weekday from now through May 19. All assignments must be completed and turned in by Tuesday, March 19 at 3:00 pm.
Drop Off and Pick Up of School Items
Students/Parents will be required to drop off all school-owned property and pick up any personal items on Tuesday, May 19 from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. or on Wednesday, May 20 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Students/Families in Grades 7-12 will drop off materials in front of the high school main entrance. Students/families in Preschool through Grade 6 will pick up materials by the cafeteria/junior high entrance on Washington St. If you have students in both buildings, you will need to go to both locations. More details on location are provided below.
Families will drive by and we will provide each student/family with any personal items that were left at school and the student/family will drop off any school-owned property.
School-owned property MUST be returned. This includes the following items (some of these items only apply to students in Grades 7-12):
iPad, keyboard, Apple pencil, and charger
School-issued hotspot
Textbooks
School-owned calculators
Library books
Athletic uniforms
Any other item that belongs to the school
*If a student is required to attend summer school, the school provided technology may be reissued to the student if needed.
The following are important points for drop off/pick up:
Place the iPad charger in a ziplock bag and label the bag with the student name.
If possible, place the iPad, Keyboard and Charger (and hotspot if applicable) in one bag that is labeled on the outside with the student name, grade level, and homeroom teacher (if K-6) and the word “iPad.”
Then, place all other school items in a separate bag and label the bag with the student name. If this is not possible, the school will have bags there for use during drop off.
We ask that all family members remain in their car. Staff members will approach the car to deliver the students’ personal items and collect school items.
All students/families in Grades 7-12 will enter the high school entrance off of Route 133. At the end of the entry drive (by the school), turn left and head towards the elementary school playground area. Once items are picked up, exit the school facility on Diamond Street.
Students/families in Grades Preschool - Grade 6 will approach the school in the same way parents approach the school during the regular school day. Everyone will need to head east on Washington Street. Cars will line-up along Washington Street in front of the school. Cars will turn into the cafeteria/junior high entrance where tables will be located and materials dropped off and picked up.
Please note that all report cards will be mailed.
Once You Get Home
If the student is missing a personal item, please email Julie Gauna at jgauna@arcolaschools.com for students in Preschool through Grade 6 and Christy Johns at cjohns@arcolaschools.com for students in Grades 7-12.
We will make every effort to find the items, but some items may need to be claimed when next school year starts!
