The Arcola School District #306 and the City of Arcola have entered into another exciting partnership for the upcoming school year. They have teamed up to provide a School Resource Officer (SRO) that will be working in the school building on a daily basis. The district is excited to welcome Officer Brandy Smith, who has been employed to fill the SRO position. Officer Smith has several years of police officer experience and will be a great addition to the staff in Arcola.
The SRO will fill many roles during the school year. First and foremost, the SRO will provide a police presence and will partner with school staff in providing a safe and secure environment. This should provide everyone with a renewed sense of safety and security on campus.
In addition, the SRO officer will be bringing back several educational programs for the students including the DARE program. She will assist with supervision in a variety of situations and provide support to administration as needed. In addition, the SRO will be a critical partner in implementing the school district Crisis Plan and with working with outside agencies.
The students will be meeting Officer Smith when they return for the 2024-2025 school year.
