What do you want to be when you grow up? At 5 years old, students may have answered with fantastical visions of pirates, Lego ninjas, or Disney princesses! When asked this question recently, our AHS students answered with much greater aspirations.
The class of 2021 dream to be lawyers, nurse practitioners, child abuse counselors, photographers, fashion designers, and engineers (electrical and nuclear). They hope to be farmers, accountants, forensic scientists, educators, police officers, astrophysicists, service men and women, coaches, electricians, and cardiologists along with so many other fields. All the careers chosen have some sense of purpose for the students and how they wish to make their mark on the world and/or the community. The future looks very bright for the class of 2021!
Over the past 2 weeks, AHS English I classes were researching their potential career endeavors. With the help of Mrs. Phillips and Ms. Chovanec, they completed skills and career interest surveys, researched their career field, interviewed people within their chosen careers, and presented to their classmates in a digital presentation. In addition to their presentations, they also wrote an essay elaborating on their high school and post-high school plans with the hopes to better determine the right path to success. To conclude the unit, the guidance department met with each class to help them set their class schedules for next school year.
Good luck to the class of 2021 as they embark on their journey toward their future!
