
Arcola Junior High students made solar ovens after analyzing data, testing different design solutions, and combining the best characteristics of each. The students applied scientific principles to design, construct, and test devices that maximized thermal energy. (Using the sun to heat up s'mores and hot dogs.)

The year is almost over! Today we held graduation practice and pictures for the Class of 2018. Now we are resdy for the well ceremony on, Friday May 25th, at 7:30 pm.

Don't miss this one! SBL Arcola Clinic will offer sport physicals Wednesday, June 6th from 1-5. The fee is $20 and will be donated to the Arcola Athletic Booster Club. This is for any incoming 7th,8th and 10th-12th graders. Cash or check only will be accepted.

SENIOR HONORS NIGHT
AHS held its annual Honors Night tonight, honoring a group of deserving graduating seniors. Thank you to the community members and organizations who also honored our seniors with numerous scholarships and awards. Last night at Prom, Quincy Miller was crowned Queen and Conner Strader King. The Junior class, with sponsors Mrs. Phillips & Mrs. Kessler, put on a fun dance, decorated "Under the Sea". You can see more pictures on the AHS Torch Facebook page.





Congrats to our JH Track team for their performances at sectionals today in Catlin. 7th grade boys and girls got 3rd and 8th grade boys got 2nd. Multiple qualifiers for state next weekend.

Arcola Athletes - please mark your calendars and plan to get your sports physical at the Arcola Sarah Bush Clinic on June 6th between 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. The cost of the physicals will be $20 and Sarah Bush will donate all the money back to the Arcola Sports Boosters organization. Incoming 6th graders and Freshman can not get their physicals during this time because they have to have school physical, not a sports physical.

Two groups received monetary awards from Jaye Roberts today. The money is from the Allen Roberts Memorial Fund and was given to the Jr. Sr. High FCA group and the Jr. High Student Council.

Mario Cortez and Dahlyla Peña made a taco pinata for a collaborative project in Art. We had to have some fun to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! 🇲🇽💃




Mr. Reel and the following students took a trip to the state capitol today: Ben Crane, Ilusha Budd, Jacob Butler , and Garrett Sigrist. Their classroom for the day was the capitol! The Youth Advisory Council gives the students a unique , hands-on experience in state government. They were given the opportunity to conduct a mock hearing on the recent passage of a bill. Our students were able to meet Senator Chapin Rose and Governor Bruce Rauner.





Mr. Lugo and some of the HS Art students finished round 1 of "yarn bombing" the elementary playground area.
